Administration Instructions:
Administer Trifexis with food for maximum effectiveness. For heartworm prevention, observe your dog for one hour after dosing. Redose if vomiting occurs within one hour. If a dose is missed by more than a month, administer immediately with food and resume monthly dosing.

Is Trifexis Right for Your Dog?
Trifexis is beneficial for dogs who spend time outdoors or live with outdoor pets, as well as indoor dogs that can still be exposed to parasites. The American Heartworm Society (AHS) and the Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) recommend annual testing and year-round heartworm prevention.
Key Threats to Your Dog's Health:
Fleas:
- Provides fast relief, killing fleas within 30 minutes and preventing infestations all month.
- Alleviates discomfort like scratching, chewing, biting, fur loss, and restlessness.
- Helps prevent flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).

Heartworm Disease:

Administer monthly, starting within 1 month of mosquito exposure and continuing for at least 3 months after the last exposure. Year-round administration is acceptable. When switching preventatives, give the first dose of Trifexis within 1 month of the last dose of the previous medication.
Flea Treatment and Prevention:
Begin treatment anytime, ideally one month before flea season and continue monthly through the end of the season. Year-round treatment is recommended in areas with constant flea activity. Treat all household pets to minimize reinfestation.
Intestinal Nematode Treatment and Control:
Trifexis treats and controls roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. Advise clients on measures to prevent reinfection.
Contraindications:
There are no known contraindications to the use of Trifexis.
Warnings:
Not for human use. Keep out of reach of children. Serious adverse reactions have been reported following concomitant extra-label use of ivermectin with spinosad alone (a component of Trifexis).
Precautions:
Heartworm testing is recommended prior to use. Treat infected dogs with an adulticide. Use with caution in breeding females and dogs with pre-existing epilepsy. Puppies less than 14 weeks old may experience a higher rate of vomiting.
Adverse Reactions:
The most common adverse reaction reported in clinical trials was vomiting, which was usually mild and self-limiting.

FAQ
Overdose of this medication is unlikely. However, if an overdose is suspected, contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room. Symptoms of overdose that may occur include vomiting.
Give the missed dose with food as soon as you remember and resume a monthly dosing schedule.
Trifexis is indicated to treat and control intestinal parasite infections of adult hookworms, roundworms and whipworms in dogs. In occasional cases, it is possible that you might see intestinal worms being expelled in your dog's stool, this means Trifexis is working. If you have questions, consult your veterinarian for measures you can take to prevent a reinfection of intestinal parasites.
Hookworm (A. caninum), roundworm (T. canis, T. leonina), whipworm (T. vulpis) and tapeworm (T. pisiformis, E. multilocularis, E. granulosus and D. caninum)
Side effects that may occur include vomiting. If vomiting occurs within one hour of administration, redose with another full dose. Other side effects may occur. Continue giving Trifexis chewable tablets and talk to your veterinarian if your pet experiences decreased appetite, lethargy or decreased activity, diarrhea, cough, increased thirst, vocalization, increased appetite, itching, hyperactivity. Talk to your veterinarian about any side effect that seems unusual or especially bothersome to your pet. The use of ivermectin at higher than FDA-approved doses at the same time as Trifexis can result in serious side effects.
Your pet may maintain normal activities and interactions while being given Trifexis. The safe use of Trifexis chewable tablets in male dogs intended for breeding has not been established.
Trifexis has been demonstrated to be safe in healthy dogs when used according to label directions. Spinosad, one of its active ingredients, is produced by a bacterium first isolated from natural sources (a soil sample collected in the Caribbean).1 Spinosad selectively targets the nervous system of the flea (and other insects) due to differences in the targeted receptors compared to mammalian nervous systems.2 However, as with all medications, sensitivities due to individual animals can occur, sometimes resulting in side effects. The flavoring in Trifexis comes from artificial beef flavoring made from pork-based proteins and hydrolyzed soy.3
Spinosad and milbemycin oxime are the two active ingredients in Trifexis.

Trifexis kills fleas on dogs before they can lay eggs when used monthly and according to the label directions. Remember that all animals in the household should be treated with an approved flea product to help control the flea population. Your dog can continue to be exposed to fleas that live in the environment. When fleas jump onto and bite your dog, they will be killed by Trifexis. If, within a month after your dog receives Trifexis, you see fleas on your dog, they are most likely new fleas. These new fleas will be killed before they can produce eggs that contaminate the environment. Continued monthly use of Trifexis can protect against any new infestations.
You may maintain normal activities and interactions with your dog.
No, Trifexis is not approved for use in cats. Trifexis was developed exclusively for administration to dogs.

- The EPP staff were great. We had problems getting the Rx approved by my veterinary hospital because their staff failed to carefully look in Ginger's chart to see that her heartworm test was negative within the past year. Once they notified me, I got on the stick to get them to look carefully and worked with the EPP staff to get the faxed Rx appropriately signed. It took patience and perseverance but I have both and so do the EPP staff. All got resolved but they let me know by email and phone so I could get things resolved.

Today I finaly got someone on the phone and he says he will change the Auto ship date. Then I receive the shipping order status for last months order and not this months. I started using Trifexis when my dog was old enough to have it prescribed. She will be 11 in November. I’ve been satisfied with the results of the product all these years. The only thing I would say is curious is the product is advertised as chewable, and in all these years I haven’t been able to get my dog to chew the tablet! I just place it deep in her mouth and stroke her throat.

The Entirely pets pharmacy website was easy to manage. They took info on my pets and their vet, to get the prescription. Then they mailed our Trifexis in good time. The dogs took their pills wrapped in lunch meat. Worked on my dogs just fine... I took advantage of ordering the 12 month supply for each dog.
