DirectionsDosage & Administration:
Give Heartgard Plus exactly as directed by the veterinarian. If you do not understand the directions ask the pharmacist or veterinarian to explain them to you. Heartgard Plus chewable tablets must be chewed. They should not be swallowed whole. Use with caution, Collies and other herding dog breeds have been known to have adverse reactions to invermectin administered at elevated dose levels. Heartworm testing should be performed prior to the start of prevention therapy. If the animal is off Heartgard Plus for 6 months or less, start the medication and test after 6 months since microfilaria, that take 6 months to mature, will result in a positive test result. Store Heartgard Plus at room temperature. Do not remove the tablet from its wrapper until ready to give the medicine. Keep this medication away from children and pets. In addition, Heartgard Plus has shown a wide margin of safety at the recommended dose level in dogs including pregnant or breeding bitches, stud dogs and puppies aged 6 or more weeks.
Give Heartgard Plus Chewables once a month on the same day of each month year round.
Heartgard Plus Chewables are for dogs only. Do not give to cats.
Heartgard Plus Chewables should not be swallowed whole.
Chewables may be broken and fed to dogs as pieces, or crumbled and mixed with food.
Watch dog closely following dosing to be sure the entire dose has been swallowed. If it is not completely swallowed, give one more full recommended dose as soon as possible.
Do not remove chewable from its wrapper until ready to give to pet.

What happens if I overdose the pet:

What should I avoid while giving Heartgard Plus:
Because humans can contract hookworm from animals, it is important to maintain good personal hygiene. It is also important to eliminate fleas on the pet and in the household and to not feed the pet rodents or uncooked meat or fish. To prevent reinfection, daily cleanup of stools is recommended.
What are the possible side effects of Heartgard Plus:
Side effects of Heartgard Plus are rare at the recommended heartworm prevention dose. Higher doses in dogs may cause tremors, dilated pupils, and loss of body weight and death.
What other drugs will affect Heartgard Plus:
Do not give Heartgard Plus to your pet if already taking another heartworm medication.
Can cause sensitivities in herding dog breeds. It is important that you give your pet this preventative every month. If you miss more than two monthly doses, we recommend calling your vet before continuing the medication. Also, note that side effects are rare at the recommended heartworm prevention dose. Higher doses in dogs may cause tremors, dilated pupils, loss of body weight, and death. Side effects in cats include agitation, loss of appetite, staggering, dilated pupils, tremors, blindness and disorientation.

Our Healthy Bassets
There's an old expression: "You can't prove a negative", but our basset hounds (we have three) have never gotten heartworm, so we have to assume that Heartgard, which we have used for decades, must work.
ProsEasy to feed. Our bassets will eat these readily... no forcing.

I usually get this product from my Vets office after the testing as it was convenient .This Year I decided to shop for a better price for both the testing and the Heartguard Plus. I was very pleased with the great price and fast professional service I received.

Good product at a reasonable price.
Love this pharmacy
I have ordered from Entirely Pets many times. Delivery is always quick. They communicate well if there is a problem with the vet. Expiration dates are always well into the future and labeling does not cover up important information on the package. I consistently find their prices to be very competitive with other pet pharmacies.

Great Price, Great Product
My dog is a German Shepherd that has had issues with vaccines making him sick so we are careful about anything he takes. The heartgard is one product his system can handle. I found this site to have the best price.
ProsPrice, ease of ordering
