Description

Phenylpropanolamine, generic for Proin, is a prescription medication used in dogs for the control of urinary incontinence due to urethral sphincter hypotonus. It contains phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride, also known as PPA, an alpha-adrenergic agonist that helps improve urethral muscle tone.

By supporting the function of the urethral sphincter, phenylpropanolamine helps reduce involuntary urine leakage, often referred to as “puddle” accidents, and helps improve urinary control. It is commonly prescribed by veterinarians as part of a long-term management plan.

Uses and Benefits

  • Helps tighten the urethral sphincter to improve urinary control
  • Effective for managing urinary incontinence in dogs
  • Supports reduction of involuntary urine leakage and “puddle control”
  • Oral tablet form for easy administration
  • Can be used as part of a long-term treatment plan under veterinary supervision
