Panacur C Canine Dewormer Dosage and Administration
Panacur C: is FDA-approved for use in puppies six weeks of age or older, adult dogs, and even pregnant dogs. The standard dosage is administered once daily for three consecutive days based on your dog’s weight. To ensure effectiveness, the powder should be thoroughly mixed with a small portion of your dog's regular food. For dry kibble, slight moistening may help with blending. It is important that all medicated food is consumed.
Dosage Instructions:
Daily Dose: 50 mg/kg (22.7 mg/lb) of body weight
| Dog Weight | Packet Size (Daily Dose) |
|---|---|
| 10 pounds | One 1 gram packet |
| 20 pounds | One 2 gram packet |
| 30 pounds | One 1 gram packet and one 2 gram packet |
| 40 pounds | One 4 gram packet |
| 50 pounds | One 1 gram packet and one 4 gram packet |
| 60 pounds | One 2 gram packet and one 4 gram packet |
| 80 pounds | Two 4 gram packets |
| Over 80 pounds | Use an appropriate combination to obtain the recommended daily dose. |
Note: Each packet size corresponds to one daily dose. Repeat the same dose for three consecutive days.
- Weight accuracy: Always weigh your dog to ensure accurate dosing. If the weight falls between two sizes, use the next higher packet size (for example, a 15 lb dog should receive a 2-gram packet).
- Feeding: Mix the medication with a small amount of food and ensure it is fully eaten. Slightly moisten dry kibble if needed.
- Duration: Administer the same dose for three consecutive days.
Diagnosis of Parasites:
Specific diagnoses may require laboratory testing. Consult your veterinarian for confirmation and guidance. Note: Panacur C only treats Taenia species of tapeworms. If tapeworm segments are still visible in the stool after treatment, contact your veterinarian.
Recommended Deworming Schedule:
- Puppies (6–12 weeks): Deworm at 6, 8, 10, and 12 weeks.
- Dam treatment: Treat the mother alongside the puppies.
- Adults (6 months+): Deworm at least twice per year (each course lasts 3 days).
Caution:
Do not use in dogs allergic to this medication or in sick animals without veterinary consultation. Humans can contract parasites from pets, so maintain good hygiene and sanitation. Avoid feeding uncooked meat or allowing pets to hunt rodents. Clean up stools daily to help prevent reinfection.
