Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution is used for the treatment of eye infections, such as conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers, in dogs and cats. It also helps provide quick relief from pain, swelling, itching and discomfort in the eyes. Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution 0.3% comes in an easy-to-use dropper bottle for quick and accurate administration.

How It Works

Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution 0.3% contains the active ingredient ofloxacin which is thought to exert a bactericidal effect on susceptible bacterial cells by inhibiting the growth of susceptible bacteria.

Indications

Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of the following bacteria in the conditions listed below:

CONJUNCTIVITIS:

Gram-positive bacteria:

  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Staphylococcus epidermidis
  • Streptococcus pneumoniae

Gram-negative bacteria:

  • Gram-negative bacteria:
  • Enterobacter cloacae
  • Haemophilus influenzae
  • Proteus mirabilis
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa

CORNEAL ULCERS:

Gram-positive bacteria:

  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Staphylococcus epidermidis
  • Streptococcus pneumoniae

Gram-negative bacteria:

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Serratia marcescens*

Anaerobic species:

  • Propionibacterium acnes

*Efficacy for this organism was studied in fewer than 10 infections.

Directions

  • Follow your veterinarian's instructions exactly as directed.
  • Wash hands thoroughly before and after administration.
  • Apply Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution 0.3% directly to the affected eye.
  • Replace cap securely after using.

Storage:

Store at room temperature. Keep out of the reach of children and pets.

Cautions:

As with other anti-infectives, prolonged use of Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution 0.3% may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, including fungi. If superinfection occurs discontinue use and institute alternative therapy.

Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution 0.3% is an antibiotic that treats bacterial infections of the eye in dogs and cats. It requires a prescription from your veterinarian. Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution 0.3% is available in a 5 ml dropper bottle.
Talk to your veterinarian about the proper dosage to give your pet. Tell your veterinarian if your pet has a hypersensitivity to ofloxacin or any other antibiotics. Talk to your veterinarian before giving your pet any other medications or supplements.
Wash your hands thoroughly before and after use. Apply Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution 0.3% exactly as directed by your veterinarian. It should be applied directly to the affected eye. In order to avoid contamination, avoid touching the applicator tip to the eye, your fingers, or any other surface.
The most common side effects include ocular burning or discomfort. Other side effects can include stinging, redness, itching, tearing, dryness, and eye pain.
Give the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is too close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume a regular dosing schedule. Do not double dose.
If an overdose is suspected, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Avoid contaminating the applicator tip.
Consult your veterinarian before giving your pet new medications or supplements.
