FAQ

What's different about Frontline Gold

Frontline Gold is the latest innovation in flea and tick protection from the maker of Frontline Plus. In addition to having fipronil and (S)-methoprene, they now added a powerful third ingredient, pyriproxyfen which helps to kill the next generation of flea eggs and larvae before they can develop into adult fleas. Regular use of Frontline Gold helps prevent new flea infestations.

What does triple action mean?

Frontline Gold Brand Products protect your pet with 3 tough killing ingredients: one to take out adult fleas and ticks, and two to kill the next generation of flea eggs and larvae before they can develop into adult fleas.

Why does the applicator look so different?

Frontline Gold has an easy-to-use applicator featuring a twist-off cap and the applicator is longer in length.

Does Frontline Gold kill anything else besides fleas and ticks?

You bet. Frontline Gold also kills chewing lice.

Does Frontline Gold work on other pets besides dogs and cats?

Good question. Frontline Gold for Dogs was specifically formulated for use on dogs and Frontline Gold for Cats specifically for cats. Consult your vet if you have questions about protecting your other pets.

How does Frontline Gold kill fleas and ticks?

Frontline Gold has 3 secret weapons: fipronil, to take out adult fleas and ticks and (S)-methoprene and pyriproxyfen to kill the next generation of flea eggs and larvae before they can develop into adult fleas. Once Frontline Gold is applied, fipronil stores itself in the oil glands in your pet's skin. It then works continuously for 1 month as it is released from the hair follicles onto the skin and coat.

Does it take a long time to kill fleas and ticks?

Frontline Gold for Dogs starts killing fleas in just 30 minutes.* In a study, it killed 100% of fleas on dogs within 12 hours of infestation.

If I miss a month what do I do?

Donít wait until the next month. Just apply now, remember the date (we can help you with that) and repeat every month. You should get back on track as soon as you can with Frontline Gold.

I washed my pet the day after I applied, do I now have to reapply?

No worries! Frontline Gold remains effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. After application, just keep your pet from getting wet for 24 hours. If Frontline Gold is to be applied after a bath, make sure your pet is completely dry before application.

Can I use Frontline Gold if I've already applied another flea/tick product?

Consult your veterinarian before using.

I see a lot of fleas after I apply Frontline Gold. Is that normal?

When Frontline Gold kills fleas, it can cause them to move to the surface of the pet's coat as they die. So if you start seeing more fleas after treating your pet, consider it a victory for the relentless killing power of Frontline Gold.
