Description
Denestra™ with SAMe supports liver metabolic activity and proper liver function for dogs and cats. SAMe, or S-Adenosyl-Methionine, is a naturally occurring substance found in all living beings. SAMe in its biological form contributes to better pet health through a number of chemical processes: transmethylation, trassulfuration, and aminopropylation. These processes can affect liver and joint health in animals. Through the process of transsulfuration, natural SAMe is converted into a compound called glutathione, a potent antioxidant and liver detoxification tool.
It supports normal detoxification and cleansing of the liver from impurities, which in turn may help the body from exposure to heavy metal or environmental toxins. Denestra with naturally occurring SAMe has added benefits for pet joint health as well. During the aminopropylation process, methylthioadenosine (MTA) is produced. MTA helps support cartilage matrix production in the joints, and may help maintain the effectiveness of proteoglycans, molecules that are critical for the lubrication of joints.
Denesta with SAMe is a pill that you administer orally to your dog or cat or may administer in a pill pocket to guarantee it is swallowed. With just one pill you can give your pet support for healthy normal liver and joint function at the same time. It can be used with prescription drugs.

Denestra® should be administrated on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after a meal (overnight fast is preferred). Do not cut or crush tablets. May be disguised in treats for easier administration. Dosage may be increased or decreased at any time at the recommendation of your Veterinarian.
CAUTIONS: If animal's condition worsens or does not improve, stop product administration and consult your Veterinarian. In case of accidental overdose, contact a health professional immediately.
WARNINGS: For use in animals only.
STORAGE: Store in a cool dry place. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Keep tablets in their original blister pack until used. Tablets are sensitive to moisture and extreme heat.

Big pills

These pills are larger than expected and not so easy to give to my picky dog. I tried adding it to her food and I noticed she would eat around it. Tried giving it to her in cheese, nope. My next option was pill pockets and she took them, no issues. She's been on them for about a month now and I haven't seen much of a difference. Will continue and update on the progress.

I've been giving my dog these pills for several weeks now.I thought I was giving it to her longer but then I started finding the pills where she had spit them out. Silly girl.Now that I am sure it is in her system now, I feel like it has made her more alert, and more active.Which tells me that the inflammation and pain she's had is easing up.I'm really happy for my dog to be back to doing her silly goofy self.Anyway

I wish cats were so easy to work with when hiding pills or meds in food. This SAM e is great. No problems with use, Max has had no nausea or gastric issues. The inflammation and joint pain is reduced and his mood is much better. He seems happier. Far less barking at night and a better time with getting up and laying down, comfortably. He's big but showing some signs of aging in his hips and back legs, as well as his mood. He's been more irritable with outside noises, people walking by over the last year. He's a bit more jumpy. After about 3 weeks, he is doing much better. He'll eat the tablets with peanut butter, hot dog, turkey sandwich, and managed to eat around it when left in his dinner bowl.This seems to be an authentic product and did not take long to show effects.5 stars

Great supplement!

I had been wanting to try SAMe for my dogs, and so was glad to find this product. What I like about this particular brand is that it's made in the USA and the tablets are in airtight foil packs, so oxygen can't degrade the ingredients. I am super satisfied knowing that these ingredients are now a part of their diet, after doing a lot of research on SAMe.

Our dog has only been using this product for a short time. He looks like he's feeling better and isn't hurting. Since starting this, he seems to be more mobile and even has started rough-housing with the other dogs. I highly recommend!

Dog tolerates, so far, so good

Have been giving these to our ten year old Akita. She refuses 90% of the supplements I have tried with her, but these, wrapped in cream cheese, she will accept. That's a huge head start compared to the others. I have no idea if the are beneficial—a week is too soon, but it does give me an opportunity to discern if there are any immediate side effects, so far none. If positive effect is observed, I'll report back joyfully.

As described.Denestra - for Dogs - S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine -supolements to help Dogs Liver, Joints and Cognitive Support. for Larger Dogs size tablets- Veterinarian Approved - 400 mg - 60 Tab box..I ordered these for our geriatric doggos-3 of them.i have to split them in half as each dog is under 25 lbs.they fought us trying to pill them.but we got them down.i noticed some stomach upset the next day,loose stools.im sure this will pass as the dosage accumulates in their bodies.

Only time will tell if these make a difference. My dog gobbles them down though, which is a blessing. Usually, we a problem with him taking anything new. My vet suggested a joint supplement and I checked with her about these and she said they we be fine. Decent price compared to most brands.

A supplement that is supposed to help with doggy dementia. Like us, dogs can get mentally dull with age. And their joints get stiff. My dog is still as clever as ever, but her joints are very stiff. She gets glucosamine but anything to keep her feeling sharp and limber....we'll give it a go.Beware that this supplement can cause diarrhea, so go slowly at first until the dog's tummy adapts. Some dogs have more sensitive guts than others. And unlike us, we might run to the loo but they'll cut loose if they need to and that is NOT fun.

Alright, let me set the record straight. I messed up and got this supplement for my teeny tiny 17-year-old senior dog. Yeah, not the intended audience, but hey, I'm still giving it 5 stars 'cause the instructions are pretty clear and honest.So, here's the deal. If you're thinking of getting this for a smaller pooch and breaking or cutting the pill, don't do it! The instructions and some online studies say that a broken pill might not work as intended since it needs that outer shell to protect it from the digestive tract. So, get the right size for your doggie. The smallest allowed is 35 pounds, double my small dog's size.I know, I know, I saw " for larger dogs" on the label, and I thought I could outsmart it. Nope, the label's right, and I was wrong.Just make sure you read those labels properly and get the right size for your fur baby. Lesson learned

High SAMe Dosage Without Silybin (Milk Thistle)

This review is for Denestra - Same for Dogs - S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine - Dog Liver, Joint and Cognitive Support for Larger Dogs - Veterinarian Approved - 400 mg - 60 Tabs. This pill reminded us of Denamarin (without the Silybin) but seems to be just as effective when used in conjunction with milk thistle. We've used Denamarin for large dogs for several months but we couldn't get our dog to take it without a lot of struggle so we were forced to find an alternative solution. He could smell the huge blue pill inside a pill pocket (or any treat) and would not open his mouth to take it. However, he didn't flinch with these Denestra pills so we're really happy with them. What a relief! Our alternative solution to Denamarin was to use SAMe in conjunction with Milk Thistle for the Silybin/Silymarin, and he's been doing really well on them. The only problem is that we have to give him several SAMe pills per day as opposed to just one pill now. Denestra has 400 mg of SAMe per pill vs our old SAMe which was ~56 mg per pill (i.e. 225 mg for 4 pills). Overall, we're really pleased with these pills and we have not seen any adverse effects on our dog since switching to Denestra. We'll be going in for his checkup next month so will know for sure then if anything changes. For now, these pills seem to be just as effective for us when used in conjunction with milk thistle. It would be more convenient to administer with Silybin already added (like Denamarin) though, but we've managed it so far. We'd give it a 4.8/5.0 - 07/21/2023.

I have a senior pitty mix that has liver problems and was put on Danimerin, which is very EXPENSIVE. I did my research trying to find something as effective but more affordable and this is it. It has kept her liver levels normal or close to.

Best alternative to prescription supplements!

My dog was recommended to be on a prescription liver supplement for the rest of her life after chronic high liver enzymes. I purchased these after using the extremely expensive prescription brand for 2 months. These have the same dosage of SAMe as the prescription brand. The combination of modifying my dogs diet and using this supplement, along with following veterinarian recommendations have decreased her liver enzymes and brought her back within normal limits. The blister pack is more reliable than purchasing in a bottle, as this supplement is sensitive to moisture. I'm not going to lie, the pill stinks! But my dog is not picky and eats this on an empty stomach with a tiny bit of peanut butter. I will continue to keep her on this supplement! Thank you for providing a more affordable alternative!
