Description

Cyclosporine (Modified) Capsules for Dogs are prescription immunosuppressive medications commonly used to manage chronic inflammatory and immune-mediated skin conditions, such as atopic dermatitis and perianal fistulas. These modified-release capsules provide steady, long-term immune system regulation by controlling overactive immune responses in dogs. Cyclosporine is a trusted veterinary treatment that helps reduce itching, inflammation, and other symptoms associated with canine allergic skin diseases. Available in multiple strengths, Cyclosporine capsules are administered orally and should be used under the direction of a veterinarian.

Key Benefits:

  • Veterinary-Trusted Immune Support: Effectively controls chronic allergic skin conditions, including atopic dermatitis.
  • Slow-Release Formula: Modified capsule design ensures consistent absorption and steady medication levels.
  • Minimizes Symptoms: Helps alleviate itching, skin irritation, redness, and swelling caused by immune system overactivity.
  • Flexible Dosage Options: Available in 10 mg, 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg strengths for tailored treatment based on your dog’s size and condition.
  • Prescription-Only: Requires veterinary supervision to ensure safe and effective use.

Indications:

Cyclosporine capsules are indicated for the treatment of:

  • Chronic atopic dermatitis (skin allergies)
  • Perianal fistulas (immune-mediated anal lesions)
  • Other immune-related skin disorders in dogs as determined by a veterinarian

How It Works:

Cyclosporine works by inhibiting T-lymphocyte activation and reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines—molecules involved in the immune response. By dampening the immune system’s overactivity, it helps control the inflammation and discomfort associated with allergic and autoimmune skin conditions. The modified-release formulation allows for a controlled delivery over time, promoting consistent therapeutic benefits with minimal fluctuation in blood levels.

Directions

Cyclosporine Modified Capsules are prescribed to manage atopic dermatitis and other immune-mediated conditions in dogs and cats. For optimal results, it’s essential to follow your veterinarian’s instructions closely and administer the medication at the appropriate time relative to meals.

General Usage Guidelines:

  • Always administer 1 hour before or 2 hours after feeding for proper absorption.
  • Allow your pet access to plenty of fresh drinking water during treatment.
  • Do not remove capsules from the blister pack until ready to use. A distinctive odor upon opening is normal and does not affect efficacy.
  • Routine veterinary follow-ups and blood tests may be necessary to monitor for side effects or effectiveness.

Product Overview:

  • For use in dogs and cats 6 months or older and weighing at least 4.5 lbs.
  • Available strengths: 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg capsules.
  • Blister packaging ensures product integrity and shelf life.

Tip: If your pet experiences vomiting or diarrhea, consult your veterinarian to assess if dosage adjustments are needed.

Dosage for Cats (6+ months of age)
Weight Daily Dosage
Over 4.5 lbs 2.3–3.1 mg per lb of body weight. Begin with once-daily dosing for 4–8 weeks, then taper to every other day or every 3–4 days as symptoms improve.
Dosage for Dogs (6+ months of age)
Weight Daily Dosage
Over 4.5 lbs 2.5 mg per lb of body weight. Begin with once-daily dosing for 4–8 weeks, then reduce to every other day or every 3–4 days as needed.

Storage Instructions:

  • Store at controlled room temperature (68–77°F or 20–25°C).
  • Color variation between powder batches is normal.

Cautions:

  • Consult your veterinarian regarding possible drug interactions.
  • Do not use in pets with known hypersensitivity to cyclosporine.

Possible Side Effects:

If serious side effects occur—such as difficulty breathing, facial swelling, or hives—seek emergency veterinary attention immediately. Other less serious side effects may include:

  • Vomiting, diarrhea, or soft stools
  • Loss of appetite
  • Muscle cramps or weakness
  • Changes in hair coat

Always report any persistent or unusual symptoms to your veterinarian.

FAQ

There are many drug to drug interactions that may occur when taking cyclosporine modified. Tell your veterinarian what medications your pet is currently using and any new products, including herbal remedies you may startto give. Drug to drug interactions could decrease the effectiveness and/or increase the side effects of cyclosporine modified or the other medication. Examples of medications that may cause drug/drug interactionsare: SMZ-TMP (Bactrim, Septra), gentamicin, etodolac (EtoGesic), piroxicam (Feldene), ketoconazole (Nizoral), cimetidine (Tagamet), ranitidine (Zantac), itraconazole (Sporanox), methylprednisolone (Medrol), erythromycin, Allopurinol (Zyloprim), metoclopramide (Reglan), prednisolone, digoxin (Lanoxin), or any other type of vaccination.

The drug should not be used in dogs with kidney disease, stomach ulcers, and certain blood disorders. Prolonged use of cyclosporine modified can result inbacterial or fungal infection related to a decreased effect of the immune system. Consult your veterinarian for more information if needed.

Cyclosporine 25mg

Last August 2023 my cat was put on a RX and it was getting very expensive. I researched on the internet and found Entirely Pets and decided on using their Pharmacy after reading other reviews. They did all the work for me contacting my Vet for approval. If there's a problem with supply they always get back to me via email or a phone call. Customer service is the best! The girls always go above and beyond to help me get all the discounts I can.

Merchant Response:What a stunning cat! Thanks for sharing.

Life saving medication.
May 18, 2025
This medication has been life saving for my dog. He takes it to control itching and hot spots. My vet wants him to take the TEVA brand only and it is difficult to find locally. Entirety pets has been filling it for about a year now. They are reasonably priced and always in stock. He will be on it the rest of his life due to an autoimmune condition.

Keeps my dog free of itching
October 8, 2023
My dog was picked up by our local animal control over a year ago, apparently dumped on the street—she had lost most of her fur and had several skin infections. I fostered, then adopted her. She was examined by our wonderful vet dermatologist and her treatment included cyclosporine. Her fur has regrown, and she is now a gorgeous black German Shepherd once again!

Awesome for dog with bad allergies
July 29, 2023
My dog has severe environmental allergies and was prescribed cyclosporine by his dermatologist. He's been taking it for a few years now and it's really been helping him. He was taking it probably 6 months or more before it really started to help him. He used to take it every day but now only has to take it 2 days a week. Sometimes I do have to give it more often when he has a flare up because sometimes antihistamines don't help enough. Definitely a great improvement in his itchiness since taking it.

Product was perfect processing the order was frustrating at best.
February 28, 2022
I have been a customer for a while and frequently run have issues processing my order. Here is what happened this time. 1. Received an email that my order was processing and would ship soon and my credit card was charged. 2. Received an email that my order required vet approval. I contacted my vet but then saw that my prescription label noted I had refills available. I called and asked why I needed vet approval and was told to ignore that email and that my order would be shipped. 3. Then received an email that the product was back ordered. I called and mentioned that I spoke to some one who said my order was being shipped. That person told me no that my order was back ordered and the person did not have all the information to confirm shipment. I was told it would be a week or longer for the order. 4. This is a medicine that my cat needs. I quickly scrambled to find the product elsewhere at a higher price and got my vet to approve and the rush order was made. 5. The next day I received an email that my order from you was shipped. 6. I received both orders. So I now have two orders one from you and one from another company- which I didn’t need to scramble to get and pay extra for an addition prescription. 7. I hope you see my frustration.

Generic for Atopica is here!!! Save BIG $$$!!!
December 26, 2020
There were only a handful of other sites that had this generic brand available. My vet was charging more than 4x’s this websites’s price, albeit for the brand name - but, almost $240/month, compared to $56 including the product and shipping from entirelypetpharmacy.com. I was a little nervous because I had never heard of this company, but I have no regrets. Item came quickly and was just as described. Most importantly, Bella is responding to this drug. Very, very grateful for that!
Pros
  • Price
  • Generic just as effective as the name brand
Cons
  • Horrible smell, but that?s true for name brand, Atopica, as well.
