Our latest rescue… adorable…bug’s ear-cute…and NUTS!!
Being on the streets as a puppy and spending 18 months in a shelter did Tucker no personality favors. We believe that he may have been adopted several times and returned. Our first few months with him were challenging: aggressive behavior to strangers, extreme hyperactivity and resource guarding. And while we worked with a trainer and behavioral therapist, it became necessary to put him on Prozac. We had him on it for a year and weaned him off, replacing it with daily Zylkene. This worked beautifully. He has been on it for two years and recently switched to an every other day dose.
Is Tucker laid back? No, and never will be; nothing will erase the trauma of his first year and a half and his beagle and something really “boing-y” heritage. But now?
He is delightful, energetic, cuddly and is able take a moment to assess situations and not be so reactive. Training continues, slowly, but with steady progress. I am convinced that Zylkene has made this possible.
Our Do Over Dog is a keeper and a much- loved member of the family.
