General Administration Guidelines
- Use a 16-gauge, ½ to ¾ inch sterile needle for cattle; 16- or 18-gauge for swine (18- or 20-gauge for younger pigs).
- Use automatic syringe equipment for 50 mL, 500 mL, or 1000 mL packages.
- Disinfect the injection site and rubber stopper with alcohol before use.
- Do not exceed 10 mL per injection site in cattle. Divide larger doses accordingly.
Recommended Parasite Control Program
Swine: Treat all breeding animals initially. Continue as follows:
- Sows: 7–14 days before farrowing
- Gilts: 7–14 days before breeding and again before farrowing
- Boars: At least twice annually or as needed
- Feeder Pigs: Treat before moving to clean quarters
Important Notes
- Ivermectin has persistent activity against mites but does not immediately kill eggs. Avoid exposure to uninfested animals or environments for at least one week post-treatment.
- Louse eggs are unaffected—monitor for reinfestation and retreat if needed.
- Consult a veterinarian for diagnosis and integrated parasite management.
Minor Species Use
- Reindeer: For warbles (Oedemagena tarandi), inject 200 mcg/kg subcutaneously.
- American Bison: For grubs (Hypoderma bovis), inject 200 mcg/kg subcutaneously.
