Description

Omeprazole is a prescription medication for dogs and cats that lowers the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Omeprazole is in a class of medications called proton pump inhibitors that work by lowering acid production in the stomach. It works both when the stomach is full and digesting, and when the stomach is empty. This medication is commonly prescribed to treat and prevent stomach ulcers, gastritis, and esophagitis.

Directions

The general dosage for dogs is 0.25 to 0.5 mg per pound of body weight. Administer as prescribed by your veterinarian.
