Description

Nobivac 2-FeLV is a veterinarian-recommended vaccine designed to help protect healthy cats against feline leukemia virus (FeLV), one of the leading causes of serious illness in cats. This vaccine helps prevent persistent viremia following exposure to FeLV, reducing the risk of lymphoid tumors and other FeLV-associated diseases.

The vaccine contains inactivated feline leukemia virus subgroups A and B, cultured in tissue culture cells, and combined with a proprietary adjuvant to enhance immune response and efficacy.

Key Benefits of Nobivac 2-FeLV

  • Essential Protection: Safeguards against feline leukemia virus (FeLV), a major infectious threat to cats worldwide.
  • 2-Year Duration of Immunity (DOI): The only FeLV vaccine with USDA-approved 2-year protection, reducing the need for annual boosters.
  • Proven Real-World Effectiveness: Shown to protect in co-mingling studies that reflect natural exposure scenarios.
  • Superior Efficacy: Demonstrated higher protection rates compared to multiple competing FeLV vaccines.
  • Outstanding Safety Profile: Over 99% of doses administered without adverse reactions, based on extensive surveillance data.
  • Flexible Vaccination Options: Can be administered alone or in combination with other Nobivac feline vaccines for broader protection.
  • Recommended For: All kittens under 1 year of age, as well as healthy indoor/outdoor cats of any age at risk of FeLV exposure.

Indications

  • Indicated for vaccination of healthy cats as an aid in preventing diseases associated with FeLV infection, including lymphoid tumors and persistent viremia.
  • Safe for use in healthy cats 9 weeks of age or older.

Directions

Dosage & Administration (For Cats 9 Weeks of Age or Older):

  • Administer via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.
  • Initial 1 mL dose should be given at 9 weeks of age or older.
  • A second 1 mL booster dose should be administered 3 to 4 weeks after the initial vaccination.
  • Revaccination is recommended every 2 years with a single 1 mL dose to maintain immunity.

Precautions

  • Store vaccine between 2°C and 7°C (35°F to 45°F). Do not freeze.
  • Do not mix with other vaccines.
  • Use new, sterile, non-chemically sterilized needles and syringes for each injection.
  • Dispose of unused vaccine and containers safely by incineration.

Warnings

  • Contains gentamicin and amphotericin B as preservatives.
  • As with any biological product, there is a risk of anaphylaxis or other hypersensitivity reactions. Emergency Treatment: Epinephrine, corticosteroids, and antihistamines may be used as appropriate based on the reaction's severity.
  • Certain conditions may prevent some cats from developing or maintaining an adequate immune response. Prior exposure to FeLV or latent infection will not be affected by vaccination.
  • It is strongly recommended to perform FeLV antigen testing prior to vaccination to confirm the cat's status.
  • This vaccine does not offer protection against feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), a distinct feline retrovirus. Pet owners should be informed of this limitation.
