Cydectin Pour-On for Beef and Dairy Cattle is a pour-on treatment with moxidectin that works to treat infestations and infections associated with external and internal parasites. This topical, ready-to-use formula works to control mites, lice, grubs, lungworms, and roundworms, and offers one week of horn fly protection.
Moxidectin is a part of the milbemycin chemical class called endectocides. It features the unique mode of action of macrocyclic lactones. This pour-on formula is specifically designed to allow moxidectin absorption into the skin, which then distributes internally to affected areas. It selectively binds, especially to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels. These are crucial to invertebrate muscle cell and nerve cell function. This effectively interferes with the process of neurotransmission, which causes parasite paralysis and subsequent elimination.
Moxidectin (5 mg Moxidectin/mL)
CYDECTIN (moxidectin) Pour-On is a ready-to-use topical formulation intended for direct application to the hair and skin in a narrow strip extending along the top of the back from the withers to the tailhead. Due to the angular topline characteristic of most dairy breeds, it is recommended that all pour-on products be applied slowly to dairy cows. Apply to healthy skin avoiding any mange scabs, skin lesions, mud or manure. Treated cattle can be easily recognized by the characteristic purple color, which will remain for a short period of time after treatment. The recommended rate of administration is 1 mL for each 22 lb (10 kg) body weight which provides 0.5 mg moxidectin for each 2.2 lb (0.5 mg/kg) body weight. The table below will assist in the calculation of the appropriate volume of pour-on which must be applied based on the weight of animal being treated.
