How Cerenia Works
Cerenia is an antiemetic that works by blocking substance P, a neurotransmitter in the brain responsible for triggering vomiting. The active ingredient, maropitant citrate, is a neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor antagonist that effectively controls both acute vomiting and nausea caused by motion sickness, making it an ideal travel companion for dogs.

Prevention of Acute Vomiting in Dogs (Cerenia Tablets)
Dogs 2–7 Months of Age: Administer Cerenia Tablets orally once daily at a minimum dose of 2 mg/kg (0.9 mg/lb) body weight for up to 5 consecutive days.
Dogs 7 Months and Older: Administer the same 2 mg/kg dose orally once daily until symptoms resolve.
Cerenia is most effective when given before chemotherapy-related nausea. If vomiting persists despite treatment, re-evaluation by a veterinarian is recommended.

Motion Sickness Prevention in Dogs (Cerenia Tablets)
Dogs 4 Months and Older: Administer Cerenia Tablets at 8 mg/kg (3.6 mg/lb) orally once daily for up to 2 consecutive days. Give at least 2 hours before travel with a small amount of food. Avoid feeding a full meal before the trip.

Warnings
Not for human use. Keep out of reach of children. In case of accidental ingestion or exposure, contact a medical professional. Cerenia may cause allergic skin reactions or eye irritation. Wash hands after use and avoid contact with eyes.
Use in puppies under 11 weeks may result in bone marrow changes. Consult the animal safety information before use in young dogs.
Precautions
The safety of Cerenia has not been evaluated in breeding, pregnant, or lactating animals. Use with caution in pets with gastrointestinal obstructions or those exposed to toxins. Appetite and body weight should be monitored during treatment.
Storage

I use Cerenia for nausea and for motion sickness.It works great for both. However, the dose for motion sickness is MUCH, MUCH higher than for nausea. Also, for motion sickness, administer the Cernia 12 hours before travel. I have learned from trial and error, this is important for the Cerenia to work as intended.Although pricey, this drug is a life saver when taking my "car sickos" to the vet and when one of my terriers is feeling lousy.

I was VERY disappointed to open my first EntirelyPets order and find that the sixteen Cerenia blister packs had been removed from their box and put into two plastic drug containers. Why not leave them in the box? I will be looking for another pharmacy who won't do this.

My 15 y.o. rescue baby girl started showing kidney issues recently. One of the symptoms that I notice was that she started drooling excessively. This was because of her upset stomach. (Symptom of kidney problems in dogs). Cerenia is helping her with that. And it works. It really works. Also; you can’t compete with this price!!! My dog takes this medication daily to help with nausea for a gastric ulcer. I was searching or the best price as these pills are extremely expensive from my vet. I love the product but I wish the prices didn't always go up. Right now my youngest Wheaten is on several long term medications which cost quite a bit of money every month not to mention Vet bills and tests. - First time ever that it took so long to get a prescription from an on line pharmacy.
- It took about a full month just to get my prescription into their hands.
- I had asked them to contact my vet and they placed one call then told me my vet said to pick up a written prescription.
- Which was completely false.
- So I decided to just mail them the prescription and when I received the product the condition of the boxes looked like they had been through someone stepping all over them.
- Thank goodness the pills are sealed well in their package from the drug company.

Relief from nausea

Our mastiff is undergoing chemo for bone cancer. We give her one pill the afternoon after her chemo and for the following 3 days. This helps with her nausea and although her appetite is still diminished, she continues to eat. By the time the pills are done, her appetite is back and we continue on without any medication till her next chemo three weeks later.
