Description

Alaska Naturals Pet Products has created a blend of the 2 best wild Alaska fish oils, Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil and Wild Alaska Pollock Oil-We call it Wild Alaska Salmon Oil Formula. The Formula aids dogs in the natural processes of good overall general health.

Wild Alaska Salmon Oil typically has a balanced ratio of EPA and DHA. Wild Alaska Pollock Oil typically has a lopsided ratio that has more EPA than DHA. DHA aids the body's natural process of support for cellular growth of internal systems and may support the external skin and coat too. EPA aids the body's natural process of support for the immune system and aids the natural process as an anti-inflammatory agent too. Our wild Formula brings to your pet a natural triglyceride-based supplement that gives you levels of bioavailable omega 3 long chain fatty acids that cannot be achieved by heat processed pellets, kibble, soft canned or dehydrated foods. Our oils partner with all diets to include raw diets perfectly!

If you want the best of Wild Alaska, then our products are what you are looking for. From our nets to your pets

  • We catch our fish and transfer them to our processing plants within hours, not days
  • Wild-caught (not farm raised)
    • Raised in the wild northern Pacific Ocean, not closed pens
    • Raised on natural wild ancestral diets, not diets supplemented by man-made pellets

FAQ

Our oils are produced from fresh wild Salmon and Pollock which is harvested in the pristine waters of Alaska, and then bottled in our Bellingham, Washington production plant. The oils are processed using low temperature centrifugation and then stabilized with natural tocopherols. Additionally, each bottle is nitrogen purged to displace oxygen, which ensures shelf freshness for 24 months from production.

The oil should be stored in a cool dry place, out of direct sunlight and avoiding temperatures above 86° F, as both of these things can cause it to spoil. It is not generally necessary to refrigerate the oil; the exception to this is, during the summer months if temperatures exceed 86° F for homes which do not use central air-conditioning.

The date on the bottle is valid until the bottle has been opened. Once bottle has been opened, store bottle at room temperature-use within 45 days. Store bottle in refrigerator-use within 90 days.

While our fishing locations remain the same from year to year, because it is a natural product, the oil may vary in color. This is because the flesh color varies from fish to fish and season to season, depending on their amount of time spent in the ocean, what and how often they eat, etc.
Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are "good" fats which are required for normal growth and physiological integrity. They are important for your pet to maintain a healthy skin and coat, and promote strong immune, cardiovascular and nervous systems. Because essential fatty acids are not made in the body, they need to be ingested. This is easily done for your pets by providing them as food or supplements. The best source for EFAs is seafood. While some plants (such as flax seed) do contain EFAs, they do not contain the important long chain fatty acids EPA and DHA which can only be found from marine sources. The amounts average in the following range: EPA 365-410, DHA 410-455.
The fish used to produce our oils are wild caught in Alaska. Alaska's marine habitats are extremely clean, and Alaska's fish are remarkably low or free from contamination by pesticides, petroleum derivatives, PCBs, metals, and bacteria. Because Alaska is thousands of miles away from large sources of pollution, these distances, combined with the Earth's patterns of circulation of water and air, help to ensure that Alaska's waters are among the cleanest in the world. Be assured, the state of Alaska conducts contamination surveys of the various species native to the waters around the state.
Natural tocopherol is added after the oil is extracted, to act as a preservative. We use a mix of the 4 major vitamin E compounds: alfa, beta, delta, and gamma.
The ingredients of the regular salmon and pollock oils are the same for both cat and dog versions. Because most pet stores separate products by species, we have created two labels for retail display.

worked for itching
August 28, 2021
My Jack Russell is older and developed pancreatitis and has to be on a low fat diet. Then she developed dry itchy skin. I was worried about adding more fat but my vet assured me the salmon oil is a different type of oil and should not trigger a pancreatitis attack. That is why I chose this product. It has worked very well although I use it sparingly. Her itching has been greatly reduced and her hair coat is looking better also.
Pros
  • good product at a good price
  • easy to use with the pump...no mess

We have used this product successfully for years

Each dog gets a 'squirt' each morning with their meal. Although it does have a fishy smell and taste, they seem to like it fine - read it does seem to bother them taste wise. We buy enough to make freight and unopened bottles keep for months on the shelf at room temperature.
Pros
  • Unopened bottles keep for months on the shelf at room temperature. Unusally ships quickly and arrives in a few days.
Cons
  • None.

Salmon Oil is Great for Dogs Health!
February 10, 2021
We purchase Alaska Salmon Oil for our dogs! You apply 2 to 3 pumps to their food and mix it in! This product helps with maintaining good fur and skin! I would recommend this for any dog owner. Decrease or increase usage depending on dog size! We have 3 medium built dogs; 50-60 pounds!

Merchant Response:Great pack of dogs you have there Joe. Thanks for the review and sharing a pic.
