Description
Bacteria, viruses and fungi can cause a wide range of skin infections in dogs and cats. These infections are usually characterized by itching and the presence of a rash consisting of bumps or blisters. Hair loss and open wounds can develop if the scratching is severe enough, which can lead to a more serious secondary infection. Some of the most common skin infections that affect pets are ringworm, hot spots, dermatitis and pyoderma. Topical medications can provide relief and help destroy the microbes that are causing the infection.
Zymox Cream with Hydrocortisone contains enzymes that are believed to assist the immune system in fighting bacteria and fungi that cause infections. These include lysozyme, lactoperoxidase and glucose oxidase. It also has hydrocortisone to help relieve itching and discomfort and aloe vera to ease skin irritation. It contains lactoferrin as well, which provides dogs and cats with healthy bacteria to help keep harmful bacteria in check.
Zymox Cream comes in a form that is easily applied to a dog or cat's skin. Pet owners should clean the area before applying the cream directly on their pet's skin. Zymox can be used twice a day for up to two weeks or as directed by a veterinarian. This product is designed for use in treating skin infections, such as ringworm, anal sac abscesses, atopic dermatitis, hot spots and fold pyoderma. It can also be used on cuts and minor wounds.
