It may also be prescribed for certain cobalt deficiencies, certain pancreatic diseases or intestinal malabsorption conditions. Vitamin B12 is a water soluble vitamin necessary for the bone marrow to produce red blood cells. A deficiency of Vitamin B12 can lead to advanced anemia where the red cells are fewer in number but are larger than normal (macrocytic). Injectable form available only. This injectable form of Vitamin B12 may be given subcutaneously (subQ, under the skin) or intramuscularly (IM, into the muscle).

    How it works

    Cyanocobalamin is an injectable form of Vitamin B12, which is absorbed by the body and provides the body with the necessary Vitamin B12 it needs for functions.

    Dosage & Administration

    Cyanocobalamin Injectable may be given subcutaneously (subQ, under the skin) or intramuscularly (IM, into the muscle). Always use a new sterile needle and syringe for each injection. When finished, place the needle and syringe in a puncture-resistant container. Have your veterinarian or veterinary staff show you how to give the injection.

    Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian. Use all of the medication prescribed, even if your pet appears well. If the entire course of treatment is not given, the infection may recur or worsen.

    Possible side effects of Cyanocobalamin: Rarely, there may be some discomfort at the site of injection.

    If you miss giving a dose: If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to the regular schedule. Do not give two doses at once.

    If you overdose the pet: If you know or suspect your pet has had an overdose, contact your veterinarian immediately.

    What should I avoid while giving Cyanocobalamin to my pet: Consult your veterinarian before using Cyanocobalamin with any other medications, including vitamins and supplements.

    Who should not take it? Not for use in animals hypersensitive (allergic) to any ingredients in the product.
