This easy-to-administer powder helps correct conditions associated with low circulating thyroid hormone. Symptoms of hypothyroidism can include skin lesions, exercise intolerance, laminitis, infertility and lethargy/poor performance, and obesity.

How It Works

This product is orally administered and uses levothyroxine sodium to correct conditions associated with hypothyroidism.

Indications

For use in horses and ponies for correction of conditions associated with low circulating thyroidhormone (hypothyroidism).

Doses should be individualized and animals should be monitored daily for clinical signs ofhyperthyroidism or hypersensitivity. Suggestedinitial doses are 1-10 mg levothyroxine sodium (T)/100 lb. body weight (2-20 mg/100 kg) once perday or in divided doses. Response to the administration of Thyrozine Powder should be evaluatedclinically every week until an adequate maintenance dose is established. In most horses, this is usually inthe range of 35 to 100 mg total daily dose of T (1-3 level tablespoonfuls Thyrozine Powder).

Warning:

Administer with caution to animals with clinically significant heart disease, hypertension or othercomplications for which a sharply increased metabolic rate might prove hazardous. Use in pregnantmares has not been evaluated.
