Description

Key Features

  • Effective Treatment for Constipation: Lactulose helps draw water into the colon, softening stools and encouraging regular bowel movements in pets suffering from constipation.
  • Helps Manage Hepatic Encephalopathy: Reduces blood ammonia levels in pets with liver issues by converting ammonia into ammonium, which is then excreted via the intestines.
  • Gentle and Non-Systemic: Lactulose works locally in the colon without being absorbed into the bloodstream, reducing the risk of systemic side effects.
  • Adjustable Dosage: The dosage can be tailored to suit the size, breed, and specific condition of your pet, ensuring effective treatment.
  • Safe for Long-Term Use: Safe for prolonged use in pets with chronic constipation or hepatic encephalopathy, under veterinary guidance.

Ingredients

  • Lactulose: A synthetic disaccharide sugar that works as a laxative by drawing water into the colon to soften stools and promote bowel movements. It also helps manage hepatic encephalopathy by reducing blood ammonia levels.
  • Fructose: A monosaccharide sugar present in small amounts, contributing to the overall effect of lactulose.
  • Galactose: A monosaccharide sugar present in small amounts, contributing to the osmotic effect.
  • FD&C Yellow No. 6: A synthetic dye used for coloring the solution.
  • Purified Water: Used as the solvent for the solution.
  • Sodium Hydroxide: Used to adjust the pH level of the solution to ensure stability and effectiveness.

Directions

  • For Constipation or Hepatic Encephalopathy:
    • Administer 1 mL per 2 pounds of body weight every 8 hours initially.
    • Adjust the dosage based on your pet's response, as recommended by your veterinarian.

Storage Directions

  • Storage Temperature: Store at room temperature (20°C–25°C / 68°F–77°F).
  • Avoid Freezing: Do not freeze the product.
  • Color Change: A normal darkening of the product over time may occur, but this does not affect its therapeutic action.
  • Container: Keep tightly closed in the original container or a light-resistant container with a child-resistant closure.
