Description

Budesonide Inhalation Suspension 0.5?mg is a prescription corticosteroid medication designed for use with a nebulizer. It helps manage and control chronic respiratory conditions by reducing inflammation in the airways. Commonly prescribed for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), this inhalation therapy offers targeted, effective symptom relief by delivering medication directly to the lungs.

Key Features:

  • Effective Airway Inflammation Control: Budesonide reduces inflammation in the bronchial tubes, helping to prevent asthma attacks and respiratory flare-ups.
  • Fast, Targeted Relief: Inhaled via nebulizer for direct delivery to the lungs, improving respiratory function quickly.
  • Precision Dosing: Each unit dose provides a consistent 0.5?mg of budesonide for accurate treatment.
  • Safe for Pediatric and Adult Use: Approved for use in children and adults under healthcare supervision.
  • Trusted Pharmaceutical Manufacturing: Manufactured by AmerisourceBergen Drug Corp to meet high standards of quality and safety.
  • Ideal for Long-Term Management: Designed as a maintenance medication to reduce the need for rescue inhalers.

Indications:

  • Long-term maintenance treatment of asthma in adults and children.
  • Management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
  • Prevention of asthma-related symptoms such as wheezing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.
  • Reduction of inflammation in the lungs due to chronic respiratory disorders.
  • Used alongside bronchodilators or rescue inhalers to improve overall breathing control.

Ingredients

Active Ingredient

  • Budesonide: 0.5 mg per unit dose (suspension for inhalation)

Budesonide is a corticosteroid that works by reducing inflammation in the lungs, making it easier to breathe. It is the primary therapeutic agent in this inhalation suspension, formulated for delivery via nebulizer.

Directions

  • Use this medication exactly as prescribed by your veterinarian or physician.
  • Administer via a jet nebulizer connected to an air compressor.
  • Shake the ampule gently before opening.
  • Twist off the top of the single-dose ampule and empty the entire contents into the nebulizer reservoir.
  • Instruct the patient (or pet handler) to inhale the mist steadily through a mouthpiece or mask until the reservoir is empty (typically 5–10 minutes).
  • Do not mix with other nebulized medications unless approved by your healthcare provider.
  • Use immediately after opening the ampule.

Storage Instructions:

  • Store unopened ampules at 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C); excursions permitted between 59°F and 86°F (15°C and 30°C).
  • Protect from light. Store ampules in the original foil pouch until ready to use.
  • Do not refrigerate or freeze.
  • Discard any opened or unused portion—do not reuse partially used ampules.

Warnings & Cautions:

  • For inhalation use only; do not swallow or inject.
  • Use only with a jet nebulizer; ultrasonic nebulizers are not recommended.
  • Not for use in the relief of acute bronchospasm. A short-acting bronchodilator should be available for sudden breathing problems.
  • Long-term use of corticosteroids may lead to systemic effects including adrenal suppression and reduced growth rate in pediatric patients.
  • Discontinue use and contact a healthcare provider if signs of hypersensitivity occur (e.g., rash, swelling, or breathing difficulty).
  • Use with caution in patients with active or latent tuberculosis, untreated fungal, bacterial, or viral infections.
  • For veterinary use, always consult a licensed veterinarian for appropriate dosing and monitoring.
