Description

RenaPlus is used to provide your pets with the potassium they need when they suffer from hypokalemia (low blood potassium). Low potassium levels are common in pets with kidney (renal) problems and can also occur because of other medical conditions.

How It Works

Commonly known as potassium gluconate, RenaPlus Tablets works by helping to treat and prevent potassium deficiency, known as hypokalemia. For animals with kidney disease, a potassium deficiency is a common symptom associated with the disease.

Indications

Potassium gluconate for use as a supplement in potassium-deficient states in cats and dogs.

Ingredients

Each tablet contains a minimum:
Potassium Gluconate 2 mEq (468 mg)

Directions

The suggested dose of RenaPlus for adult cats and dogs is one (1) tablet per 10 lb (4.5 kg) body weight twice daily. Dosage may be adjusted to satisfy patient's need.

Caution:

Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

Warning:

Do not administer in diseases where high potassium levels may be encountered, such as severe renal insufficiency or adrenal insufficiency.

Precaution:

Do not use in pets with hyperkalemia (high potassium blood levels), severe kidney disease, acute dehydration, untreated Addison's disease, or hemolysis (breakdown of red blood cells). Use should also be avoided in pets with constipation or heart disease, especially when taking Digoxin.

Possible Side Effects:

May cause nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, especially if not given with food.

Storage:

Store tightly closed container in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 35°C (95°F).
